Who We Are
The ICAA (formerly ICA&CA), founded as two separate nonprofit organizations in 1991 and 1968, respectively, merged in 2002 as a national nonprofit organization by a small group of passionate design professionals whose goals were to celebrate, teach and preserve the Classical Architectural tradition in America. It does so though education, publication, and advocacy.    We have grown from humble beginnings to become the leading national non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the practice and appreciation of this classical tradition in architecture and the allied arts.  The ICAA now has fifteen chapters throughout the United States and continues to grow.

The ICAA Northern California Chapter (ICAA Northern California), founded in 2004, offers a wide array of programming including lectures, continuing education classes, architectural and travel tours throughout the Bay Area, as well as art, literary, and historic symposiums. The Julia Morgan Awards, held biennially, were established in 2014 to recognize outstanding work in architecture, design, craftsmanship, patronage, preservation, and restoration throughout the Bay Area. The ICAA Northern California Chapter also provides scholarships to students and professionals to attend the ICAA Professional Intensive and the Summer Studio in Classical Architecture, as well as other ongoing ICAA courses.
