ICAA Northern California Announces Partnership with Academy of Art University in San Francisco

We are proud to announce the achievement of an innovative education partnership with Academy of Art University. The first of its kind in the Western United States, this exclusive partnership launching in Spring 2022 exemplifies our Chapter’s mission of expanding student access to unique educational opportunities that further the study of the principles and practices of classical architecture and design.

Our evening and weekend courses are designed to introduce professionals and students to the skills, knowledge, and resources essential to the practice and appreciation of classical design.

Educational workshops give hands-on instruction in the foundations of classical elements, proportion and perspective, to advanced sketching and watercolor rending techniques.

The Chapter offers the New Heights and Grand Tour enrichment programs for middle school and high school students to help children and teenagers expand their understanding of, and engagement with, the built environment. Through hands-on introduction to classical design principles and planning, each school program is tailored to school curriculum, student age, and skill level. These programs are 100% supported by the Chapter and are of no cost to the school.

Northern California hosted its first regional Professional Intensive in 2019. The Intensive is an eight-day immersion program in the ICAA core curriculum designed for professionals and students with limited time, who seek a methodical introduction to the language of classical architecture.

The Northern California Chapter Board of Directors has established scholarships for professionals, emerging professionals and students to pursue classical study at the ICAA in New York and regional intensives. Scholarships include the Suzanne Tucker Design Scholarship in Interior Architecture & Design open to students, emerging professionals, and professionals in Interior Design regardless of region, and the Northern California Chapter Scholarship for students, emerging professionals, and professionals in Architecture, Landscape Design, and the Allied Arts who reside within the state of California.
