Andrew Skurman Architects
3654 Sacramento Street, San Francisco
Join Andrew Skurman and his extraordinary team for a classical architecture retrospective of work by Skurman Architects, highlighting the watercolor paintings of their award-winning projects. Recognized nationally and internationally for their classical architecture, ranging in scale from grand country residencies to intimate city apartments, Skurman Architects has emerged as the leading practice for applying classicism through the diverse traditions of the French, Georgian, and Mediterranean (Greco-Roman) styles.
Drawing from an extensive collection of books and monographs, the firm uses historical precedents to guide its design process for delivering innovative, sophisticated solutions for modern classical living. Along with constructing models, Skurman Architects utilizes the unique Beaux-Arts tradition of watercolor rendering to complement its work further. This classical architecture exhibition is an educational and social event that is not to be missed.
Founded in 1992 by Andrew Skurman, Skurman Architects benefits from his experience and expertise. Skurman apprenticed at I.M. Pei & Partners before working at other notable practices. His work has resulted in a number of awards, including five Julia Morgan Awards from the ICAA Northern California Chapter. In 2010, Skurman received the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) from the French Minister of Culture. A decade later, Skurman Architects was the recipient of the Arthur Ross Award in Architecture, the highest honor for excellence in the classical tradition by the ICAA. In 2013, Skurman was a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome and has served as a National Trustee of the ICAA Board.
